Kolnoa

Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025, Kolnoa WLS is a popular series of monthly Israeli film screenings, some of which will be UK premieres, or avant-premieres, and often accompanied by a Q&A with the film’s Director or its actors.
We curate each year’s programme carefully so that the films we choose are remarkable in some way, and reflect current issues (such as current events in Israel) or a calendar event (such as Mental Health Awareness Week) or a Jewish festival (such as Succot).
The mission of Kolnoa-WLS is primarily to be educational, offering attenders an opportunity of seeing a slice of Israeli life, understanding the Israeli perspective, and, of course, improving Hebrew (all non-English language films have English subtitles). It is also sociable, and entertaining, with the atmosphere of a members’ and friends’ club.
Each session (usually the second Thursday of the month) starts with a pre-screening get together over an Israeli-style buffet and a glass of wine, and the film is introduced, and then followed by a post-screening discussion so that we all go home with food for thought. There is normally no admission fee or ticket sales, but donations towards costs are always appreciated.
